New To Victoria and Health

December 28, 2012

It's been about three months since I've been at the Victoria Advocate, so I think it's about time I wrote about who I am and what I do. So here goes.

I'm Keldy. I'm not from Victoria or Texas or even use to weather in the South. I'm from a nice place called Queens Village. It's a really nice place in this city called Queens, except for the fact that it is in New York.

Yes, I've moved away from everything and anything I've ever known to come live in Victoria.

People ask 'why the heck you come to Victoria?' I respond, why not?

As a journalist, you take some chances in life, and, so far, this has been the craziest adventure yet.

So what do I do at the Advocate some may ask?

I write about health. I learn something new every time I write about about something health related. To me, and hopefully to others, it is the most important topic of discussion in America period!

I started caring about health even more as I got older and recalled my father saying 'son, you're going to have to find a job so you can get some health insurance.' That changed when President Barack Obama made it so that people under 26 can stay on their Obama's plan.

Anyway, I want to understand as much about the Crossroads area as possible when it comes to health. So please, call (361-580-6514), email ( or find me on Twitter (@keldyortiz). I usually look at tweets unless it's after 1 a.m. in which case I tell myself I should be sleeping as I require 6 to 8 hours of sleep a day.

It is healthy after all.
