Born in Victoria, Texas at Victoria Hospital.
From birth through 15 years of age, lived in Victoria, later attending Methodist Day School, Presbyterian Day School, Trinity Episcopal School, Nazereth Academy, St. Joseph High School (through 9th grade).
From age 15 (10th grade) through High School Graduation in 1977, I attended St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Austin, Texas.
First two years of College were spent at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. The final two years of college were spent at The University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1981 with a B.B.A. majoring in Petroleum Land Management.
From 1981 to 1982 I lived in Houston, Texas while employed by Tomlinson Interests, Inc. as a Landman.
In 1982 I moved back to Victoria and went to work for Dennis O'Connor, with responsibilities in Oil & Gas Exploration and Production, and Investment Management covering a broad class of assets. In 1995 my employer changed to O'Connor & Hewitt; Ltd., and continues to the present.
Additional responsibilities are Vice-President of The O'Connor & Hewitt Foundation; President of The Victoria Performing Arts Center (VPAC), the owner of The Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts. Additionally I serve as Board Chair for the Dorothy H. O'Connor Pet Adoption Center.
I am married to Nancy Barrett Hewitt, a native Victorian, and have a Daughter, Ellen Austin Hewitt.
