Jennifer Zinke, 18, stepped into what looked like a barn house outside and felt like a dream within.
Zinke, her mother, 42; and sister, Amanda Lu Montez, 24; were greeted by racks of glimmering prom and wedding wear at All About the Dress, owned by Christina Cook, who opened the shop this year.
Her camouflage Crocs tapped the floor of the elegant, chandelier-lit dress store.
Zinke was named the winner of the Victoria Advocate's Prom Princess on Sunday and was at the shop, which is sponsoring her outfit - including shoes and jewelry - searching for the right dress.
She began her search with help from her mother and sister.
Zinke looked timidly at the dresses before her.
"Just bring me a dress and I'll try it on," Zinke said.
Montez joined her sister in the draped dressing room, helping her zip up the bedazzled wonders.
Giggles poured out from behind the curtain.
"Where's Mom?" yelled Zinke. "Mom!"
Zinke popped out of the dressing room in a bright-pink, high-low cut strapless dress.
"Next," she said flatly.
The high school tomboy went through several dresses before choosing her final three: an apple green, mermaid-style gown; a deep turquoise dress; and a futuristic lime green dress.
Zinke spent almost two hours combing through dresses before making her final decision.
