Twice in recent weeks, my neighborhood (Legend Drive in the Lakes of Colony Creek) was carpet-bombed with rolled up red fliers advertising "free" roof inspections. They were attached to everyone's mailbox with rubber bands - a practice, incidentally, frowned upon by the Postal Service.

I believe that if this carpet bomb practice was employed on Dunbar Drive, it explains a lot about the "Permits for repair through the roof" mentioned in a recent Victoria Advocate roofing story.

The out-of-town marketers' use of the "carpet bomb" technique exploited the "hysteria" of missing out on a free roof repair and "greed" of sticking it to their insurance company, ergo the roof repair, justified or otherwise.
