Editor, the Advocate:
On Saturday, Oct. 13, there is going to be a parade to honor and recognize the soldiers who served during the Vietnam War. Thank you to those who are putting on the parade. Those who served will appreciate it.
I was drafted into the Army in 1971, served my two years and got out. I didn't have to go to Vietnam and didn't want to. I was opposed to the war in 1971 and still feel that it was a mistake for the U.S.A. to be involved. More than 50,000 U.S. soldiers were killed and thousands of soldiers returned home with physical injuries and mental damages. Some of them never recovered.
I will be participating in the parade and plan to use the parade as an opportunity to remind Victorians that the Vietnam War was an unjust war. If you would like to join me in the parade on Oct. 13, contact me at 361-575-2625.
