From the ongoing oil boom to Caterpillar's arrival, to the introduction of underclassmen at the University of Houston-Victoria and more, all signs point to a growing Victoria.
And with growth comes additional progress, as evidenced by the traffic cones, workers and heavy machinery around town.
Here is a look at a handful of ongoing construction projects throughout Victoria.
Peter Piper Pizza

Pizza restaurant, arcade

Slated to open in early 2013
Homewood Suites Hilton
6705 N.E. Zac Lentz Parkway
Hotel with pool, fitness center, sport court, meeting and board rooms, hot breakfasts and social hours
109 suite-style rooms with full kitchens
Slated to open by March 2013
Hilton Garden Inn

Hotel with pool, meeting facilities, fitness center, hot breakfasts and restaurant

Overpasses
Loop 463 at both Mockingbird Lane and Salem Road
Slated for completion in January or February
Main lanes likely open to the public in January, although small finishing touches must go in before project is considered complete
Strip Mall
John Stockbauer Drive at Chama Drive
Four built-to-suit retail offices in front, with building owner, Treatment Associates, occupying the back of the building
6,000 square feet
Construction slated for completion Dec. 1
