Case for President Obama's re-election is strong

Editor, the Advocate:

Though the road to fix our economy is a long and winding road and we are only on the first leg of the journey, there is good news. Barack Obama has seen what needs to be done and is doing it. Since he became president, the stock market and corporations are at an all time high.

Osama bin Laden is dead and GM is alive. He doubled funding for Pell Grants and simultaneously kept their interest rates from doubling.

Government spending under Obama, including his signature stimulus bill, is rising at a 1.4 percent annualized pace - slower than at any time in nearly 60 years. The Iraq war is over and the one in Afghanistan is drawing down. The dream of health care long yearned for (since 1904) is in effect.

Is the work done? No. "The work begins anew, the hope rises again, and the dream lives on." These words, spoken by the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, ring as true today as when he first spoke them.
