New options are available for CPL Retail Energy customers looking for something a bit more environmentally friendly.

The company recently unveiled its True Blue Texas plan, an energy program that utilizes natural gas from Texas' King Ranch, to two Texas gas-fired power plants.

Blue energy is a cleaner and affordable form of energy, and a way to support the natural gas industry that is vital to the state's economy, Rob Comstock, CPL Retail Energy's general manager of Texas, said in a company news release.

"As a Texas-based company, we are proud to offer the first and only 100 percent, Texas-sourced natural gas product on the market," he said. "By selecting True Blue Texas, our customers are directly supporting Texas business."

Texas is the nation's leader in natural gas production, according to the release. The energy source supports about 12 percent of Texas jobs and contributes about $100 billion per year in state revenue.

Utilizing more natural gas statewide not only boosts the economy and provides added jobs, but also means better air quality, according to the release.
