His blue eyes lit up at the mention of a Tiger football game.
Trey Wimberly played offensive and defensive lineman from 1986 to 1990 as a Goliad High School Tiger.
This year, Tiger fans will hear Wimberly's voice over the speakers as he gives play-by-play from the stadium's press box.
In addition to his volunteer sports announcer gig, Wimberly also is a member of the Goliad school board.
"I took over seven years ago," Wimberly said. "I still get goosebumps when I hear the 'Tiger Rag.'"
After graduating from A&M University with a degree in animal science, the former Tiger started looking for a job back home.
"I bleed Tiger Blue," Wimberly said. "My mother's side settled in the north end of this county in the 1860s."
Wimberly's father, W.A. Wimberly, was a Tiger running back and his mother, Julie Wimberly, was a Tiger cheerleader.
The fifth generation Goliad resident has big plans for his sons Mac, Weston and Walker - who he hopes follow his lead.
"I try to stay pretty involved," Wimberly said. "I enjoy the heck out of it."
