A man in his mid-20s was flown to a Corpus Christi hospital Wednesday after a six-foot by 10-foot piece of a metal storage tank fell on him, Victoria Assistant Fire Chief Tracy Fox said.
The man was using a cutting torch at Equalizer Inc. at the Port of Victoria at about 4:45 p.m. when he became trapped. Co-workers freed him from the tank piece before emergency personnel arrived.
Fox said the man, who was not identified, had significant injuries, but couldn't elaborate.
A woman who works for Equalizer Inc. said the man was not an employee, but a contractor with an Oklahoma-based tank building company. She provided no other information.
