Residents in the Hidden Valley neighborhood were expected to be without power early Monday for several hours after an SUV crashed into a utility pole.
Victoria County Deputy James Monroy said the female driver of a 2001 black Isuzu Rodeo fled the scene soon after the wreck was reported about 11 p.m. Sunday.
Monroy said the vehicle was traveling south on York Road toward Gentle Breeze when it struck the utility pole, causing it to ignite and to fall onto the pavement.
The Isuzu was going between 60 and 70 mph when it struck the pole. It is unclear whether the driver was injured in the crash.
An official with the Victoria Electric Coop said power was expected to be restored within three and five hours.
Monroy would not release the driver's name, or the vehicle's registered owner.
