The annual Goliad Scare on the Square took place Saturday in downtown Goliad. The free, public event, which drew people from Goliad and the surrounding areas, has been in existence since about 1995, according to Patricia Morales, chairwoman of the Main Street Program. Last year's event drew about 1,000 people. This year, area businesses, schools and political organizations sponsored booths and gave away candy to children. Attractions for this year's event included a hay ride, princess tea party, sack hop races, a bounce house and costume contests for humans and their pets.
