A 21-year-old Edna man was arrested Friday in connection with a stabbing that sent another man to the hospital earlier in the week.

Emmanuel Eli Hernandez was arrested Friday by Edna Police and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to a news release from Edna Police Chief Clinton Wooldridge.

Hernandez remains in the Jackson County Detention Center in lieu of a $50,000 bond.

The stabbing took place about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday during a fight in the 1300 block of Green Street in Edna.

The stabbing victim, 26-year-old Jorge Espino, was transferred from the Jackson County Hospital to Citizens Medical Center in Victoria. He was released during the weekend.
