The northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 59 south of the Wharton airport were closed Monday because of an overturned propane truck.

A Department of Public Safety spokesperson said the crash took place about 5:30 a.m.

Traffic was being diverted onto Farm-to-Market roads and then back onto the highway when clear of the crash scene.

Propane has leaked from the overturned truck, according to the DPS.

As of 4:15 p.m., the highway remained closed.
