The big, brown cardboard box in the student mailroom is a welcome sight for any hungry, stressed-out college student.
Don't let your kid feel left out. Pack them a care package with treats and random things that will help them get through dead week while they cram for finals.
Here are a few things your college student may enjoy:
Cinnamon-flavored toothpicks
They'll keep them awake through the thickest of reading.
Stress balls
Save your child a future lecture from the dentist about excessive teeth-grinding.
Candy
Don't go overboard. Their dorms will be littered with sweets already. This is also not how one should dispose of Halloween leftovers. Throw those away.
Memory sticks
They're going to be writing a lot of papers, and they're going to need space to put it on. Save your college student some grief by getting them a mini-USB to keep their research on.
Gift cards
They don't have a lot of time to cook until the semester is over. Subway, Starbucks and gas station cards are the way to go.
Cookies
If you're making them from scratch, keep in mind delivery costs and distance. The farther away they are, the better off you are with cookies from the store. My favorites are the Royal Dansk Danish Butter Cookies.
Underwear and socks
They've run out, and laundry is expensive. Please send some Fruit of the Loom their way.
Facial wipes
For when they don't have time to shower.
Words of love
Tell your college kid how much you miss them and share your past undergraduate wisdom for getting through finals.
Portrait
For encouragement and to remind them that it's not the end of the world if they get a C in Algebra.
Swatch
It's an old-fashioned notion, but watches are really great for conditioning your test-taking skills. Get them something trendy and Swiss.
