Why did you become a veterinarian?
I became a veterinarian because I was interested in biology and medicine and felt I could accomplish more as an animal doctor than as a human doctor.
How long have you been working with animals?
I have actively been working with animals since I began college in 1971.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is being able to use my knowledge and skills to improve the quality of life of animals, their owners and the community.
What has been your most memorable experience as an animal doctor?
My most memorable experience as an animal doctor was working at the United States Military Academy where I was a veterinarian for the Army Mascot Mules and working dogs.
What's the most exotic animal you've worked on?
The most exotic animal I have worked on is a mountain lion who was confiscated from her owner for providing inappropriate nutrition and housing. I was able to keep her for the rest of her life.
What are three things that you could not live without?
Dr. Sandra Cochran was nominated by Wayne and Marilyn Key, Bonnie Hahn, Terri McMahan, Hazel Coon, Deborah Jurica and Barb Knowles.
