Mary Gibbs, 73, is retired but still finds time to volunteer as a mentor for the Victoria Business and Education Coalition.

She has mentored for the past six years.

The retired rural mail carrier works with children at Hopkins Academy.

Gibbs said one-on-one help and encouragement is the best way to help students learn.
