Had 157 cows and 17 bulls. The packer market continued to be steady with last few weeks in line with the seasonal trend. A lower tone was noticed but not a significant amount.
The calf market was somewhat lower across the board. It was a very active market. Most comments were along the lines that this week was more of a correction to the past 3 weeks of escalating calf prices. Lighter weights are steady with good demand, just not many available. Most ranges were $2 to $3/cwt cheaper. Still a good solid market with no holes. As usual the replacement heifer market continues to hold a $10-$20 premium over feeders.
Packer bulls: Heavy weights, $87-$94; lower grades, $75-$83.
Packer cows: breakers, $68-$75; boning cows, $65-$75; canners and cutters, $62-$76; had one heiferette go to packer for $85; light and weak, $40-$55.
