Best local band: Clay Crockett & The Shotgun Riders

Clay Crockett plays a variety of cover music at weddings, graduation parties and community fundraisers.

Advocate readers have taken notice because he and The Shotgun Riders were voted best local band.

Crockett cites Keith Urban and John Mayer as musical influences.

Although the 27-year-old Victoria resident described his sound as classic rock, his band performs different genres.

"We play of good mix of music everybody can enjoy," Crockett said.

The four-piece band started Independence Day 2008 and plays between 80 and 100 gigs a year.

"We're really honored to have the support the community has given us," Crockett said.
