The Cuero Gun Club will donate half of its profits from its Country Doubles Shoot to a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper whose family lost its home and belongings in the Bastrop wildfires.

Trooper James Perry has been with DPS in Bastrop for nearly a year after returning from Afghanistan, where he served with the U.S. Marines. Perry has a wife, 18-month-old son and another child on the way, said DeWitt County Sheriff Jode Zavesky.

After hearing about the family's loss, the gun club decided to dedicate a portion of Saturday's shoot out to Perry, his wife and family.
