The Texas Senior Open will call Victoria Country Club its home for at least the next three years beginning Tuesday, with a pro-am event that tees off at 12:30 p.m.
Victoria Country Club is the third host for the tournament, with South Padre Island Golf Club hosting it for the first 10 events and Forest Course, at Kingwood Country Club near Houston, hosting it for the last three.
Greg Bruckner, of Phoenix, Ariz., posted a three round score of 13-under-par 69-71-63--203 to win the 2010 Texas Senior Open by a single stroke over Huntsville's Robert Thompson. Bruckner will play Tuesday in the pro-am and is in the field for the event.
Bruckner is a veteran of the Champions Tour and PGA Tour with six top 10 finishes in his career in 125 career events played.
Bruckner is one of several PGA and Champions Tour veterans in the field this week, including David Ogrin, a resident of New Braunfels with a PGA and Champions Tour career that started in 1983, and with career earnings at about $2.8 million, including finishing second at the 1997 Colonial, and a win at the 1996 LaCantera Texas Open.
The field also includes longtime pro and Houston resident David Lundstrom.
From Victoria, Claude Bridges, who won the City Championship back in July, will be competing as an amateur. Colony Creek Country Club golf professional Greg Hughes is also in the field.
The 54-hole championship will kick off at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, with the second round starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13. The field of the tournament will be cut to the low 50 golfers following the second round. The final round will be Friday morning.
The tournament is free to spectators.
