The public is invited to a reading by author/musician Naomi Shihab Nye, sponsored by University of Houston-Victoria and the American Book Review.

Nye is an award-winning poet, novelist and songwriter. Her work gives voice to her experience as an Arab American through poems about heritage and peace that overflow with a humanitarian spirit. Born to a Palestinian father and an American mother, she has lived in Palestine and Israel. She now resides in San Antonio. Nye is the author of numerous books of poems, including You and Yours, which received the Isabella Gardner Poetry Award. She also has written 19 Varieties of Gazelle: Poems of the Middle East, Fuel, Red Suitcase and Hugging the Jukebox.
